Patrick Amiot's
Junk Art Trail
An open-air sculpture tour through Sebastopol β 107 whimsical, larger-than-life creations made from recycled metal, hubcaps, car parts, and pure imagination.
Sebastopol's Most Beloved Street
Drive down Florence Avenue in Sebastopol and you'll know immediately you're somewhere special. Giant junk-metal sculptures rise from nearly every front yard β a skeleton biker, a seductive mermaid, a leering caterpillar on a hookah, Batman side-by-side with a baseball player. It's free, it's outdoors, and it's completely unforgettable.
The work belongs to Canadian-born artist Patrick Amiot, who sculpts, and his wife Brigitte Laurent, who paints in the kind of bold, saturated colors that make each piece pop like a 3D cartoon. The couple arrived in Sebastopol in 1997 and have lived on Florence Avenue ever since. Their neighbors loved the art so much they invited Amiot to fill their front yards too β and a town tradition was born.
Today, over 107 sculptures are scattered throughout Sebastopol β on Florence Ave, along Gravenstein Highway, at local businesses, and beyond. This guide covers all the known locations so you can see as much as possible.
About the Artists
Patrick Amiot sculpts large-scale figures from salvaged metal β hubcaps, car parts, appliances, and industrial scrap. Each piece is entirely unique.
Brigitte Laurent applies the paint that brings every sculpture to vivid, cartoonish life β bold primary colors and expressive detail.
Their studio, Big Times Art Studio, is at 382 Florence Ave. Their collaborative work has raised over $250,000 for local schools through an annual sculpture calendar.
